Why I finally upgraded my favorite hiking app

Hi Reader,

You know how I’m always making lists of trails before a trip? I’ve used the free version of AllTrails for years to map out hikes in national parks and little weekend getaways. It’s been such a handy tool for planning.

But here’s the thing — on a recent trip to Boulder, Colorado, I was hiking the Flatirons and realized the free version wasn’t cutting it anymore. The trails crisscross everywhere, and I didn’t have time to backtrack if I got off course.

So, I upgraded to AllTrails Plus. And wow, game changer.

  • It alerted me the moment I made a wrong turn
  • I had offline maps even when my cell service dropped
  • I could zoom in and out to really see what I was getting into

Honestly, it felt like having a trail buddy watching my back.

I put together my full review here:
👉 Is AllTrails Plus Worth It? My Honest Review

If you’re planning a road trip, a national park visit, or just a hike where you might lose signal, Plus is worth considering. It made me feel so much more confident on the trail.

Travel on!

Hi friend, If you are staring at your cart thinking, My teen does not need more stuff, you are not alone. When our kids get older, the gifts they remember most are the trips, the experiences, and the moments that feel different from every other day of the year. Not the sweater that went to the back of the closet on December 26. So this year, consider swapping a few “things” for an experience gift that turns into a future trip together. And the best part. None of these ideas needs to be...

Hey friend, If you’re craving a little extra family connection this holiday break, something easy, low-pressure, and actually fun for teens, try making a travel vision board together. We’ve done this for years, and it’s become one of my favorite ways to slow down and dream with my kids. No planning. No budgets. Just everyone tossing ideas on the table and seeing what sparks joy. And honestly? Some of our best trips started this way. My daughter’s graduation trip to Crater Lake. A Costa Rica...
